Toast the Year Ahead with a Fruity Citrus Champagne Cocktail ~ Easy Recipe to Celebrate New Beginnings

January is the month of new beginnings. It’s a time of celebrating transitions and change.

What better way to kick off the start of a new year than with a champagne cocktail?!

Here’s your sure to be, go-to bubbly recipe for happy hours and special, sparkly salutes.

As featured in my Art of the Garnish book, the Citrus Champagne Celebration cocktail is a decadent, pleasurable experience that also plays well with a variety of fruit juices and spirits, such as peach ~ for one of my most favorites ~ the much-loved Bellini (especially when I can use my fresh-picked fruits from our peach tree), orange juice for that ultimate brunch cocktail, the Mimosa or raspberry liquor, cognac ~ especially cherry, creme de cassis, or Creme de Violetta.

Or whatever is in season, is locally grown, or a fruit or amaro that you like.

At this time of year, especially in Asian cultures, this is citrus season!

In that spirit, here is the recipe for Champagne Celebration featuring Blood Orange Liqueur

Ingredients:

  • ¼ ounce Blood Orange Liqueur
  • ¼ ounce Bacardi Rum, Grey Goose or Absolut Citron vodka
  • Champagne (to taste or 1 ounce)

Method:

Place all the ingredients except the champagne in a cocktail shaker filled with ice and shake gently

Pour into a champagne flute

Top with the champagne

Finishing Touch Garnish:

Use pinking shears or scissors to cut and scallop the ends of a strip of lemon or orange peel and drop into the cocktail glass.

A Citrus perched on the glass rim amplifies or highlights the drink’s vibrant nature.

So glamorous…

Cheers to a very happy, safe, successful year ahead. Keep celebrating!
