In conjunction with the global Climate Week 2023 in New York City, The New York Botanical Garden (NYBG) is hosting an important and topical symposium: “Cultivating Resilience.”  The 2023 Symposium aims to examine the past, present, and future of Ecological Restoration as a Means for Increasing Resilience in a Changing World”

Climate Week 2023 Symposium: Cultivating Resilience

As leaders from around the world convene in New York City for Climate Week NYC 2023, The NewYork Botanical Garden (NYBG) will host a symposium to examine ecological restoration: its history,current trends, and the crucial work that needs to continue on a global scale. 

Jennifer Bernstein, CEO and The William C. Steere Sr. President of The New York Botanical Garden, will welcome symposium guests. 

The keynote address, Wild by Design: Caring for Biodiversity in a Changing World, will be given by ecologist and historian Laura J. Martin, Ph.D., followed The Promise of Ecosystem Restoration, a panel discussion with distinguished scientists and practitioners.

Keynote Speaker: Laura J. Martin, Ph.D., ecologist, historian, author, and Professor of Environmental Studies at Williams College, Williamstown, Massachusetts.

Panel Moderator: Mauricio Diazgranados, Ph.D, Chief Science Officer and Dean of the International Plant Science Center, NYBG
